With an undergrad degree in English: Communications from Lebanon Valley College, Tara graduated from Penn State with a Master degree in Humanities: Composition and Rhetoric. She then taught academic writing at Harrisburg Area Community College for five years.
In 2009, she started today’s the day Harrisburg, an online community news publication. Throughout the evolution of this blog to website-based news source, Tara built a reputation as an innovative and steadfast citizen journalist. As a result, today’s the day Harrisburg has been featured in The New York Times, on npr’s “Market Place” and “Planet Money,” and in Reuters.
Because of her reporting and social media skills, she worked in the Pennsylvania Capitol newsroom with Roxbury News and was a member of the Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents Association.
As a citizen journalist covering the City of Harrisburg, Tara has made numerous appearances on PCN, witf’s “Radio Smart Talk,” and WHTM 27 and has participated in a variety of public forums and speaking engagements.
Currently, she is a regular columnist for PennLive/Patriot News and The Burg Magazine as well as maintaining today’s the day Harrisburg and growing its brand as not only a reliable source for news but also as a growing community network of people, groups, and initiatives.
